Subjects offered at AICS

Primary School:
AICS follows the International Primary School Curriculum. Using this curriculum, class teachers will deliver a range of complimentary subjects that are linked into a themed unit of work. Subjects include: art, geography, history, information and communication technology, language arts, mathematics, music, physical education, science, society, technology, and an additional language (Dutch and/or English). These subjects are determined by the learning goals of each unit of work.

 

Middle School (IBMYP):
In the MYP students are taught a broad and balanced curriculum organised into eight subject areas:

 

Arts, Humanities, Mathematics, Sciences, Technology, Language A, Language B, and Physical Education

 

The five areas of interaction:

2.       Environment

3.       Homo Faber

4.       Community Service

5.       Approaches to Learning

 

Secondary School (IB):
Students entering the IBDP need to choose six subjects, three at higher level (HL) and three at standard level (SL). Current subject offerings within the IBDP at AICS are:

In addition to these six subjects, all IB Diploma Programme students follow lessons in Theory of Knowledge. Furthermore, they must write an Extended Essay and fulfill the requirements of the Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) programme.  

 

Note: In exceptional cases, if approved by teachers and counsellors, students may be allowed to choose a seventh subject as an extra certificate subject.
